Sculptures

I started making fabric sculptures shortly after moving to Maine, using a cheap sewing machine and some plain unbleached muslin. Now my pieces are much more complex and colorful, and much more infrequent, I’m afraid. 2-D painting seems to take up most of my working time, but I try to get a few pieces done each year. They range in size from about 10 or 12 inches to almost six feet and are made from muslin, painted with ink and acrylic paint, and clothed and/or embellished with a variety of fabrics and trims. I usually sell them through Abacus, a craft gallery in Portland, ME. I will consider commissions, depending on time available.

Quilts

I learned quilting from master quilter, Susan Carlson. She does spectacular representative quilts (including a life-size salt water crocodile that is over 20 feet long!) Although my quilts never approached her level of detail - or size - I have done a number of pieces involving snails and such things. I haven’t done any quilting in a while...I should try it again sometime!

Ornaments

Every year around the holidays I make ornaments. The heads, hands and feet are made out of polymer clay and the bodies are fabric  I usually have two new designs a year - this year’s were tigers and pterodactyls; past designs have included devils, dopey elves, holiday centipedes, lobsters and sparkling weevils from Mars. Unfortunately I cannot produce the quantities necessary to sell them online, but if you are interested, contact the good folks at Abacus and see what they have in stock.

Random Weirdness

Every once in a while I get on a kick and start making weird creatures - felted sweater beasties, plush monsters and oddities, and even painted gourds. I sell them at my studio when we all have Open Studios weekends twice a year. Other than that, you can sometimes find them in my etsy shop, when I can get my act together enough to post anything...
